Founded in New Mexico in 1951, Nambé began with an extraordinary innovation: a proprietary eight-metal alloy developed by metallurgist Martin Eden and brought to market by Pauline Cable. Its lustrous finish, remarkable temperature-retaining properties, and sculptural possibilities helped establish a new approach to functional design, rooted in the modernist belief that beautiful objects should also serve a purpose. Over the decades, collaborations with leading designers have expanded its repertoire to include wood, stainless steel, and ceramics. Today, Nambé's place in design history is reflected in the permanent collections of institutions including New York's Museum of Modern Art and London's British Museum.
